5K Memorial Race dedicated to the Fallen Police Officers of The Columbus Division of Police and surrounding Central Ohio areas and their families. This 5K race is made possible by the 501(c)3 non-profit organization Columbus Division of Police Honor Guard and amazing participants like you. If you would like to support our event and these families, but do not want to run, please feel free to donate here or be a part of our new virtual run this year!"
The Columbus Police Honor Guard is a 501(C)3 charitable organization composed completely of volunteer Columbus Police Officers and Command Staff whose primary mission is to participate at funeral services for active, retired, and reserve officers, as well as active and retired civilian police personnel. These special men and women also act as representatives of the Division of Police in various community events. The Honor Guard is primarily SELF-FUNDED, and relies on very limited public funds for its maintenance and operation. For instance: their specialty uniforms, ceremonial equipment, transportation, and upkeep on the Police Memorial at Genoa Park, etc.
The 5K Memorial Run is a fundraising event to benefit the Columbus Police Honor Guard. The sponsorship you are so graciously considering to give will help our organization to fund the expenses of the 5K Memorial Race. Proceeds from the race are then used to fund funeral services for the above-mentioned deceased officers. We are then a helping hand for the fallen hero’s surviving family as they begin to learn to cope with the loss of their officer. These services are provided by the Columbus Division of Police Honor Guard for fallen police officers in Columbus and other agencies we assist in Ohio.
NEW Virtual Race
Virtual participants will be shipped a shirt and race medal along with any other SWAG items (Medal only shipped to those who submit proof of having completed the full race distance). Both the shirt and medal will be shipped shortly after race day. Virtual participants must submit proof of completing the race by midnight on race day 10/07/17. You may complete the 3.1 miles and submit proof anytime between the time you register and the time that results are due. Results must be submitted in a format that includes both time AND distance. A stopwatch, for example, does not count as it only contains time information and no proof of distance. You may submit two separate images to confirm time and distance in case you do not have a device that displays both together. Screen shots of cellphone based apps are acceptable as long as they show time and distance. Virtual participants will be ranked and results posted by 10/09/17. Results will be separate from the participants who complete the actual race course in the interest of fairness.

Proceeds from the race will help to replenish funds to the Columbus Police Honor Guard so that they can continue to serve those most in need of their organization's help.
